Food Waste Tips for Herbs
Freezing – Freeze herbs in ice cube trays with water or olive oil and use them to season soups, casseroles, and more. You can also freeze whole leaves in containers.
Drying – Dry the herbs at room temperature or in the oven at a low temperature and store them in airtight containers.
Herb oils and vinegars – Finely chop herbs into oil or vinegar, such as wine vinegar and use them to season marinades, salad dressings, and soups.
Pestos and sauces – Herb pestos can be used on bread, in salads, or served with meat and fish dishes.
Herb butter – Mix chopped herbs into softened butter, shape into a log, wrap in cling film, and refrigerate. Use herb butter to season bread, vegetables, and grilled dishes.
Herb salt – Mix chopped herbs with sea salt and let the mixture dry at room temperature.
